You know that feeling when you finish a book and just sit there, staring at the wall, rethinking every life choice that led you to this moment? Yeah. That was me after Chain of Thorns.
London is on fire (figuratively… mostly). Demons are on the loose, betrayals are everywhere, and our beloved Shadowhunters are caught in a whirlwind of heartbreak, battles, and questionable decision-making. Love triangles? Check. Parabatai pain? Check. Unresolved trauma? Oh, absolutely.
💘 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗼𝘀 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗱:
🔥 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 – This man has main character energy but also the self-sabotaging skills of a Shakespearean tragedy. I love him, but I also want to shake him.
🌹 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮 – Our badass warrior queen who deserves the world (and a break). She's been through too much, and yet, she keeps swinging her sword like a legend.
🎭 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 – The human equivalent of tragic poetry and expensive cologne. Sarcastic, self-destructive, and absolutely stealing the show.
💀 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗲 & 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲 – Necromancy, rebellion, and questionable life choices? This duo said “𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘴? 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.”
🐍 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 – The most morally grey of them all. Do I hate her? No. Do I trust her? Also no.
👑 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮, 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 & 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 – The underrated squad. Anna is effortlessly cool, Thomas is the actual definition of a gentle giant, and Christopher… sweet boy, you deserved better. 🥺❤️🩹
I really enjoyed this book! It had drama, action, romance, and just the right amount of heartbreak to keep me emotionally invested (and slightly stressed).
And now, because I refuse to leave this world, I’m FINALLY reading The Infernal Devices! If The Last Hours was this good, I need to see where all this generational trauma began.
